So, 4:00 showers are working... and fantastic. I remember to pray for God's people throughout the world who are not as blessed to receive running water. Truthfully I did have one hot shower one morning before work... my back needed the warm water, it was cramping up. Abby and I are waiting on our vegetable garden to ripen! We have tomatoes, they are there, but green. The rest, are either just sprouting, or blooming. We have two kinds of lettuce, green peppers, carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, cucumber and sugar snap peas. I do not have a green thumb, so this is a challenge for me. How much to water, how much sun? And, we are doing this all in a kiddie pool. haha. We do not have a backyard that we are really able to grow a garden in. However, I have spied and area that I think may have potential. I will have to dig up the garden bit by bit and displace it to a new area. We will see.
New goal: drink lots of water... what do I mean? Whatever you are drinking... double it! More water = better hydration and less food. We will see how this goes.
What goals do you have for a new healthier, happier you? Goals to better yourself, your family, your relationships and your Earth?

Day 1
I have started taking 4 O'Clock showers! Let me explain what that means! I am NOT using HOT water... so.. that means, I am turning the shower knob to the 4:00 position. I figure there are millions of people who go without running water, and without hot water as well. So, I figure I can make a difference, save energy, not run hot water, maybe save a buck or two and remember to be thankful for the things that I do have in my life. Giving up hot showers will allow me to remember to specifically praise God (yes, in the shower) and be thankful for the things He has provided to me!
The World Water Council explains that more than a billion people do not have access to water supply, and 3 billion do not have sanitary water conditions.Women specifically are the ones who have to deal with,
"sunsafe water, poor sanitation, unreliable
service, or reduced water supplies, it is women who end up bearing the
inequities of the status quo. Unsafe water and poor hygiene leads to
increased incidence of microbial diseases and greater time spent on tending the sick. Unreliable service
means that women need to travel greater
distances and spend long hours collecting water for domestic use. And
water scarcity limits economic opportunities for women because many
home-based, small-scale enterprises are adversely affected." - World Water Council Factbook
Let me be clear, I am not making an argument that our planet is running out of water. I am simply explaining that perhaps we need to work together to help supply and reroute the water available to the places in lack.
If you have not read the book, "I walk for water" by Lindsey Andrews, it is a blessing. It is a children's book that teaches adults too, and raises awareness about the need and lack of (clean) water. I read it to my 5 year old and she was in "awe." She could not fathom walking miles daily to find water, and sacrificing for a muddy puddle. Did you know, with every book sold, the money donated will provide safe and clean water for an African for up to 7 years! That is incredible.

My plan is to take little steps, daily... which I will post her that will help to leave a smaller eco foot print.... This will be my journey. I am super excited, and want to start slow to maintain what I am doing. I am currently working on other things, but I will share them later. Please post your ideas, comments and concerns. Please leave politics out of this. We can argue in and out of statistics, politics is sheer opinion. Economics is black and white, raw numbers. I want to learn how I can be thankful for what I have, not waste, and take care of God's creation! ~Till next time. Peace, Love, Happiness and Recycle!
